Technology Introduction

Technology / Item Overview

  • Carbon Value develops compact and high-performance carbon capture systems for onshore and offshore applications.

  • Its core solution is an RPB-based modular carbon capture system that captures CO₂ using centrifugal force to maximize gas–liquid contact.

  • The system is designed for distributed emission sources such as SOFC fuel cells, shipboard OCCS, on-site hydrogen production, biogas upgrading, and small-to-medium industrial flue gas.

  • Carbon Value combines RPB process design, proprietary absorbents, and optimization software to provide a total solution for next-generation CO₂ capture.

Development Needs & Value Proposition

(1) Problem Definition / Development Background

  • Existing tower-type wet carbon capture systems require large installation space and high structures.

  • These systems are difficult to apply to distributed emission sources and space-constrained environments such as ships and small industrial facilities.

  • Solvent regeneration requires high thermal energy and accounts for a large portion of total operating cost.

  • New carbon emission sources require modular systems with fast installation, smaller footprint, and lower CAPEX/OPEX.

(2) Value Proposition / Solution

  • Carbon Value’s RPB system reduces carbon capture equipment size by using centrifugal force and compact gas–liquid contact design.

  • The modular system enables fast factory manufacturing, reduced installation time, and phased capacity expansion.

  • It reduces OPEX through RPB process efficiency, low-energy absorbents, and waste-heat integration.

  • The solution supports decarbonization of small and distributed emission sources that are difficult to address with conventional tower-type systems.

Competitiveness

  • Compact Design: Reduces system volume to approximately one-tenth of tower-based scrubber systems.

  • Height Reduction: Demonstrated reduction from 48 m tower-type equipment to approximately 2.6 m compact system height.

  • Energy Reduction: Expected 20–50% energy reduction compared with commercial scrubbers.

  • High Purity: Supports CO₂ purity over 99.9%.

  • Flexible Capacity: Capture capacity of approximately 2–10 tons per day.

  • Modular Expansion: Plug-and-play system enables capacity expansion and faster deployment.

  • Onshore / Offshore Readiness: Obtained LR AIP certification for RPB-based CO₂ capture device for onshore and offshore use.
